Description: We develop models of welding and 3D printing that are useful to produce defect free, structurally sound, reliable parts. Our models compute the most important factors that affect the processing, structure and properties of alloys such as the temperature and velocity fields, cooling rates and solidification parameters. They solve tens of billions of equations quickly in inexpensive computers. Integrated with efficient search algorithms, such as genetic algorithms, they solve numerous important problems based on scientific principles.
