Fr. O'Flanagan's History & Heritage pages

Description: Homepage of the extensive website devoted to the culture, history, archaeology, landscape and traditional music of Ireland, dedicated to the memory of Father Michael O'Flanagan, priest, politician, hostorian and inventor. The website, which was started in 1998, is run and maintaned by Fáilte Ireland approved guide Martin Byrne and his wife Margaret, a pair of noted Traditional Musicians and Tour Guides based in the Father O'Flanagan History and Heritage Centre in the Old RIC Barracks in Cliffoney village, County Sligo. Both Margaret and Martin play tunes within and as part of each tour. They also perform house concert duets which include a wide range of instruments and sounds: Gaelic medieval wire-strung harp, fiddles, whistles, banjos and uilleann pipes, and the history and stories behind the tunes.
